211 Alberta

211 is a centralized navigation support system to help Albertans find what they need. If you have a question and need an answer, 211 is an excellent place to start. 211 is staffed by Community Resource Specialists who are there to provide support 24/7. For those who prefer web, 211 Alberta also offers an online database and live chat service. Seniors and those who support them can find senior-specific information by accessing the Seniors Information Phone Line, a service offered by 211 Edmonton.

Alberta Seniors and Housing provides programs and services to assist seniors and promote their safety and wellbeing. The ministry also supports the development of affordable housing and ensures Albertans in need have access to housing options.

Do you have a health concern for yourself or a loved one? Call Health Link by dialing 8-1-1 for quick and easy advice from a registered nurse 24/7. A nurse will be on hand to ask questions and determine the most appropriate route of care. Please note this is not an emergency support line. In the event of a health emergency, call 9-1-1.

Developed by the Community Mental Health Action Plan, this resource provides an at-a-glance directory for various mental health resources in Edmonton.



Free Drop-In Counselling

Find free drop-in counselling services close to you. These drop-in therapy sessions are provided by intern therapists who are completing their Masters or PhD in therapy or other counselling areas. Single sessions are one hour long and are available on a fist come, first serve basis.

Operating through Health Link, the dementia line responds to the immediate needs of persons with dementia living in community settings and their care partners, who require health related advice, education, information on community resources, and emotional support for events that occur during the course of dementia.

ASHCA Housing Directory

This web database developed by Alberta Seniors Communities and Housing Association (ASCHA) provides an overview of seniors housing options in Edmonton. Find the best housing fit for you or a family member. The database allows you to search for specific accommodation types, including supportive and independent options.


Sage Housing Information Services

The housing program offered through Sage works to increase seniors’ knowledge of housing options in Edmonton and area. Sage’s Housing Information Services provides information, referrals and support for seniors seeking subsidized or non-subsidized housing.

Seniors Home Support Program

This program is a collaboration of six Edmonton senior-serving agencies to provide home supports service referrals to Edmonton seniors. Edmonton seniors can use the service to get referrals to home support services, such as snow shovelling, lawn mowing, maintenance, and more.

Seniors Adaptation and Home Repair Program (SHARP)

This program allows seniors to use their home equity to remain in their homes and maintain their independence. Eligible seniors can apply for a low-interest home equity loan with the Government of Alberta to cover repairs, adaptations, and/or renovations to their primary residence.

Seniors Property Tax Deferral Program

The Seniors Property Tax Deferral Program allows eligible senior homeowners to voluntarily defer all or part of their residential property taxes, including the education tax portion. This is done through a low-interest home equity loan with the Government of Alberta.

Drive Happiness

Drive Happiness is an affordable, assisted transportation provider to help get Edmonton seniors from point a to point b. For a flat rate, volunteer drivers provide door-thru-door transportation service throughout the city.

Seniors Transportation Info Hubs

Located in 9 spots across Edmonton, these hubs provide print information about driving, retiring from driving, using buses and taxis, and assisted transportation services for Edmonton seniors.


Edmonton Transit Services Customer Service Centre

ETS is the public transportation authority in Edmonton and manages Edmonton’s bus and light rail transportation (LRT) networks. To learn more about public transportation options in Edmonton, contact their customer service centre.

Edmonton Transit Services: Disabled Adult Transit Service (DATS)

DATS is a door-to-door public transportation service for Edmontonians who cannot use regular transit for some or all of their travel needs, due to a physical or cognitive impairment. Wheelchair lift equipped vehicles, minivans, accessible minivans, taxis and vans are used to provide DATS service.

Aging with Pride: LGBTQ2S+ Support Line

The Aging with Pride support line is a joint initiative of the Pride Centre of Edmonton, Edmonton Pride Seniors Group, and the Edmonton Southside Primary Care Network. It operates on the first and third Wednesday afternoon of each month from 4–5 p.m. LGBTQ2S+ seniors and their allies can call in to find support among friends. At this time, there is no formal program and callers are free to talk about issues important to them. Callers concerned about privacy may also call using the anonymous phone line.

Edmonton Police Crime Reporting

To report crimes that are not emergencies, you can call Edmonton Police Service. Examples of non-emergency calls include reporting a crime with no suspect (i.e. theft of a license plate), a crime with a suspect who is not on the scene (i.e. fraud), a serious crime with a suspect but a lengthy delay (i.e. an assault that occurred last night), non-emergency incidents (i.e. a noisy party, drug use), ongoing crime issues that are not in progress (i.e. graffiti), or a suspicious circumstance that may indicate ongoing criminal activity (i.e. a suspected drug den).

Sage Seniors Safe House

Sage’s Seniors Safe House is for seniors over 60 who are leaving abusive situations. The Safe House provides temporary safety, shelter and support for 60 days. Support services available at the Safe House include medical services (physical and mental health support), social work, housekeeping, meals, and homecare.

Elder Abuse Intake Phone Line

This intake phone line exists to prevent and respond to elder abuse by working in partnership with the community, thereby enhancing the well being of older adults. To report an issue or for more information about elder abuse, call this line. The intake line operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
