Description & History:
SCONA was first incorporated as a non-profit charitable society in 1976. We are situated in a small house in Old Strathcona where the environment is "home-away-from-home". Recent renovations have resulted in the centre becoming accessible to all and at present, we provide services to well over 200 seniors.

Our activities are non-structured, meeting the needs of seniors as stated by them.  It is our aim to keep seniors active in the community, supported in their attempts to remain living independently in their own homes, and leading active, happy lives.

Although we hold many of our activities at our little house, the size is not condusive to large crowds. Therefore, we frequently hold our larger activities at other venues in the community. We also spend a considerable amount of time visiting sites in and around Edmonton at an affordable cost to seniors.

We make every effort to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to get out of the house, share their knowledge and skills with others, and join a very friendly, caring bunch of seniors for good fun and fine friendship.
