Register for this one-day workshop Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Morning Facilitator: Susan Perlstein on “Vital Arts Programs.”
  • Susan is the Founder and Director of Special Projects
    for the National Center for Creative Aging in Washington, DC.
  • Her talk will cover ideas on building partnerships, securing assistance of artists in developing programs, delivered by skilled artistic professionals that involve mastery of artist skills. Exploring methods for attracting seniors not currently engaged in any organized programs or who are members of senior centres. 
  • There will be an afternoon session on “Raw Vision: The Power of Art in Health Care” by Jeff Nachtigall, one of the teaching artists-in-residence featured in the NFB film A Year at Sherbrooke. The film documents the artistic efforts of residents of a long-term care facility in Saskatoon.
  • Other afternoon sessions will focus on finding funding to develop the creative arts programs and on marketing and promoting these programs to seniors.

This Forum/Workshop is aimed at workers in the senior sector, artists, volunteers, funders and decision makers.

Parking: There is parking located outside of the Conference Centre in Lot M for guests using meeting facilities. The rate is $11.40 per day with permits being purchased at the dispenser in Zone M adjacent to the building. Additional pay parking is available in Zone R (next to Lister Centre) and in Zone T (behind the residence towers) as well as across the street in Varsity Field or next door at the Jubilee Auditorium. “
